What is your favorite theme in works of science fiction ?

science fiction
asked:

What is your favorite theme in science fiction movies, books, television or any form?

Is it the future or the past, time travel, space travel, alien worlds and visitors, fantasy worlds of the Dungeons and Dragons type, big brother totalitarian societies, paranormal or psychic phenomena or whatever? What type of theme do you enjoy most, why, and what is your favorite particular work or series of the entire genre?

This is not a question where you have to agree with what I happen to think, like so many questions are. Just make it the most interesting answer and earn some points!

I like fantasy, but I also like ‘chaos theory/ butterfly effect’ types of stories where one little change can have a whole lot of consequences. (e.g. Jurassic Park)

I like the tolitarian society theme. I really liked the movie Farenheit 451, where you couldn’t read books because they were forbidden. I’m not sure why, but it just appealled to me. I think I like how the main character changes his ways during the movie. The movie Equilibrium with Christian Bale reminded me of Farenheit 451, I liked that as well.
