What author writes good horror/thriller/mystery novels? I have to read a book for school?

Mystery Novels
Love Only Yourself ♥ Loves David asked:

My teacher has assigned me to read two books by the same author and compare them.

I like mystery and horror and thrillers, even a bit of fantasy(as in i wouldn’t mind if it had vampires or werewolves) a little romance would be nice too.

I’ve read the whole twighlight series. I’ve read the blue blood novels, Uninvited, Vampire diaries, so stuff like that is nice.

For those of you who watch anime Im looking for something like deathnote or inuyasha or elfen lied.

Stuff that keeps you n your toes!
It also has to be at least 200 pages long.

    Ooh, I loved Twilight.

Anne Rice writes good novels, have you ever read “Interview with a Vampire”…that whole series is good.

Stephen King writes good horror fiction as well.

If they can be in the same series I would suggest the Studies series by Synder (these are more on the fantasy side than the mystery)

You might want to look into books by
    Caroline B. Cooney
    Pete Hautman
    Walter Sorrells
    Rachel Caine
    Patricia Briggs
    Michael Patterson
    Marcus Sedgwick

If you like a little humor mixed in you might try the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. She calls them Southern Vampire Series and they are quite good. If you want darker you could go with Laurell K. Hamilton’s series with Anita Blake.

Lots of good ones out there. Rebecca York has some good werewolf books. Just some ideas.

Personally, I would recommend Frank Peretti. Some of his books include mystery, horror, supernatural thriller and fantasy in one story. I would recommend The Oath, This Present Darkness, Piercing the Darkness or The Visitation. I have to say that The Oath really kept me on my toes; I couldn’t put it down.

I suggest that you read two books by Edgar Allen Poe, or Agatha Christie.

    Or you might try
Sandman by Neil Gaiman and Stardust by him as well.
