How are Brett Halliday’s Michael Shayne mystery novels?
mz_j101 asked: I’m going to buy the first few sometime this week. Are they any good?

I have read about 10 of the 50 Mike Shayne novels that were written between 1939 and 1976. They are all plot driven and in all the novels there is a **** girl involved. Shayne was married in the earlier books but she was murdered which allowed Shayne to pursue a little romance with some lovely ladies. You can usually pick them up for a song at most used book stores. I think the author’s real name was Davis Dresser. If you like light PI novels with good plots, you should enjoy these books. The first book “Dividend on Death” is the best of the 10 or so I have read.
